Art the Clown vs The Smiling Snatcher (Terrifier vs Dreams of an Insomniac)

“It’s Halloween, everyone is entitled to one good scare.” - Sheriff Brackett

Art, the Miles County Clown.

Clyde, the Eastridge County Demon.

Whether it be the candy, the costumes, or the scares, Halloween is a fun holiday that we celebrate come October 31st. Hell, even these two cruel sadistic demons are dressed up for the occasion! Both being notorious for their Halloween massacres in their counties, they’ll now have to treat the other with every trick they have up their sleeves! Will Art the Clown paint the Smiling Snatcher in a very special red palette or will Clyde live to see next year’s Devil’s Night? Find out when these monsters go head to head and face off in a DEATH BATTLE!

Before We Begin…

Obviously since I’m covering Terrifier for this blog, content warning. I’ll try my best not to show gross close ups in the photos & gifs I’ll include, but gore & graphic imagery will still be shown to some capacity as well as grim descriptions of the events of the movies. And I’ll still have to provide links to clips & scans for the feats being covered for the clown. The Terrifier series also features some scenes of rapidly flashing lights which I’ll strictly be keeping to links relevant to when I’m covering those scenes later in the blog, so please be careful when reading if you’re sensitive to that.

As for Dreams of an Insomniac, it’s relatively tamer compared to the series it’s being put up against. Still, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows either, so some caution there.

As for what I’ll be covering for both series in this blog, it’s relatively simple for Art. I’ll be looking at All Hallows’ Eve, the shorts included, and Terrifier installments 1, 2, & 3 for this match. No Call of Duty, though. I want to focus solely on what Art the Clown can do in his own films, and he can do a lot, so this seems fair for the debate.

As for Clyde, I’ll be focusing on the Dreams of an Insomniac series and the 4 installments we have of it so far, but I’ll also be looking at Pastra’s QnAs and lore they have revealed for the character so long as it doesn’t contradict what we know about Clyde in DOAI.

Background

Art the Clown

Speaking of surprises kids, we have a very special guest with us today!

The incident took place on a Halloween night in Mikes County in 2017. A freakshow dressed up as a clown murdered 9 people. While the perpetrator had blown his own brains out once caught by the authorities, the body seemingly disappeared shortly after being taken in. This is because the killer was no ordinary person, he was a demon, and his name was Art the Clown.

While this specific incident named “The Miles County Massacre” is what would give Art the epithet of the Miles County Clown, this was in no way the first of his killing sprees. Art makes it a Halloween tradition to cause chaos and drop bodies everywhere he goes, all without saying a single word. Besides that however, not much is known about him, although he is implied to be a demon possessing the body of a once deceased serial killer. His only motivations seem to be for the fun of it. You can’t appeal to his emotions outside of the twisted sense of joy he gets from turning your insides into your outsides.

Many people have encountered this monster, and almost everybody that does dies in a brutal fashion. Not even Victoria Heyes, the “sole survivor” of the Miles County Massacre, got out unscathed. This all changed a year later, however, when Art met Sienna Shaw and her brother Jonathan. Sienna would be the first person who was able to confront Art and truly win, decapitating the clown. Still, Art would bounce back eventually, and he’d continue what he does best…

Clyde

Do not trust anyone you encounter wearing this costume.

On October 6th 1986, 6AM, a break-in occurred at Eastridge County’s local Halloween retail store, Grimmso’s. Only one thing was stolen: an orange prison jumpsuit costume. No security footage could be collected to reveal the culprit, so that mystery was left unknown to the public, although misbehaving children were the popular theory. Some suspected something much sinister, however. Come Halloween, the incident was forgotten about and everyone got out Trick or Treating as per usual. But something strange happened around 6PM, kids around the area kept going missing. This would continue happening until an hour later, and by the end, a total of six kids would end up vanishing. People are looking everywhere for the missing kids to no avail. Once eyewitness drawings got out, the people of Eastridge County finally figured out what they were dealing with: a demon. It had multiple nicknames; The Smiling Snatcher, the Eastridge Demon, but Pastra fans would know it as Clyde.

It wasn’t an ordinary demon, though. It was a part of an entire species of demon called the Veldigun. Efforts would be made to combat these creatures, such as the Lankmann Foundation. While the rate of a Veldigun attack would significantly decrease with their presence, Clyde would still be out there long after the initial case in 1986.

With it is still at large, Eastridge County residents must follow these 5 Simple Rules; No trick or treaters outside past 6PM, all doors & windows must remain locked, you do not hear the knocking at your doors or windows, trust nobody outside past curfew, and whatever you do, do not trust ANYONE you see wearing it’s costume.

Intelligence & Skill

Art the Clown

While he may do his killing in a goofy demeanor, Art the Clown is absolutely far smarter than his attitude would have you believe. First off, he’s able to craft his own weapons when they’re more complicated than just a simple blade or gun. Whether it be a club of nails or a weapon that sprays fumes below freezing, the Clown has shown much experience engineering the perfect weapon for your demise. As for strategy, he’s no slouch in this department either. He always has a gun in his sock in case he’s on the receiving end of a beating, and he can come up with strategies on how to get to people both emotionally and in distance by abusing the bonds they have with their loved ones, such as Sienna and Jonathan.

For skill, I don’t have to tell you Art is fantastic at what he does. Implied to be somewhat of a surgeon, he knows perfectly just how to keep a victim alive for as long as possible to drag out the torture. And finally, he can adapt pretty easily to his surroundings. His main shtick is that he’ll use anything he gets his grubby hands on as a weapon and in the most brutal way too.

Clyde

Clyde is extremely intelligent. Even during its early years the Eastridge County police have noted themselves how absurdly intelligent the beast is, and have advised people to treat it like a human being when getting into an encounter with it. It’ll attempt to take advantage of you when you’re at your most vulnerable and take advantage of its own otherworldly abilities to throw you off. It can even communicate in some shape and form.

Even in regular Veldigun behavior when hunting, they will never attempt to attack their prey, and only attempt to disorient them by manipulating their senses. While we have confirmation of 6 confirmed Veldigun characters in the lore, Clyde has been stated to be the most strategically minded out of them all. There is much more to go over on this front via just the fact that Clyde is a Veldigun, but I’ll go over this more when we start covering its abilities.

Arsenal

Art the Clown

Clown Costume

Art’s signature black and white look. It’s stylish, but can get stained in blood rather easily. Art usually likes to wash it or steal an identical looking outfit off of someone after a good killing spree.

Bag of Tricks

The closest thing to a “signature weapon” that Art has, and even then it’s basically just a chex mix hodgepodge of his entire arsenal wrapped inside of a garbage bag. While it is heavy to carry around, and a bit inconvenient for Art to scatter around inside of it to find the perfect weapon for the situation, once he eventually finds it he’s as good as gold. He also has a red variation of the bag for Christmas, how jolly!

Horn

Any good clown needs a horn to honk around for anytime he just wants to have a fun time!

Scalpel

One of the more common blades Art uses in his murders. It may be small, but it’s great for long drawn out torture!

Chain of Knives

One of Art’s favorite weapons throughout his killing sprees! A chain attached to a bunch of small sharp objects he uses as a whip. It could be grabbed and used against him, however.

Pistol

As said already, Art always keeps a gun hidden in his sock. He does seem to keep other kinds of pistols in his bag, though. Whatever suits you best, Clowny!

Ammo

Running out of ammo in his guns is only a minor inconvenience for Art, as he keeps more in his bag.

Syringe

Art has used syringes multiple times in the case he needs to put someone to sleep in order to kidnap them.

Knife

This slasher villain would of course carry around the most well known weapon to slash with!

Bottle

He can shatter a whole bottle against your noggin or stab you with the broken remains.

Cleaver

More blade options for the Clown. Not much else to say on this.

Saw

You know the scene.

Scissors

Another stabby stabby option for the clown. Similar to the scalper, in that it’s a small blade that makes good use for more dragged out kills.

Hammer

A good blunt object to bash people’s faces with, but besides that pretty standard.

Plastic Bag

A weapon he’s used to strangle people a couple of times, although it never usually works out too well. The victims usually are able to just poke holes in the bag.

Axe

A more aggressive weapon Art can use if he just wants to kill you quickly.

Tricycle

Well, that’s somewhat of a transportation method, fitting for him, atleast.

Car

Art is no stranger to using cars, whether it be to chase after people, actual transportation between destinations, or just to ram into his victims.

Disguises

Art has used numerous disguises to cover up his creepy clown appearance. He’s stolen Santa costumes & masks, or if he wants to go a different route, scalp you and steal your hair and skin to look like you.

Tommy Gun

Now we’re getting into the good stuff! A gun that Art has used that rapid fire kills whole rows of people.

Shotgun

Exchanging speed for oomph, this powerful gun, that he also seems to keep in his socks, is strong enough to blow the head off a woman completely.

Flamethrower

Another weapon Art has used that catches people’s entire body on fire when used near them.

Freeze Machine

Something Art made himself that can quickly encase people’s body parts in ice, making them easier to smash. Although it doesn’t seem to entirely freeze them as they’re still conscious, and the range of effect doesn’t seem to be larger than a body part at most.

Fluoroantimonic Acid

Something he stole during the end of the Miles County Massacre, which he’d later use the year after by throwing it at the face of one of his victims. This acid is otherwise known as a “super acid” and is one of the strongest acids in the world.

Bomb

When disguised as Santa, he gave a bunch of kids cool presents! He even gave one kid an actual fucking pipe bomb! Cool!

Salt and Bleach

Again, you all know the scene.

Chainsaw

I love me some chainsaws, and horror movies are no stranger to that weapon. So it makes sense for Art to keep one of these inside of that bag of his!

Clyde

Spooky Inmate Costume

Clyde’s signature outfit during the incidents, so much so that you’re told to not trust anybody wearing it!

Disguises

If you see someone outside past curfew in Eastridge County, that is NOT them, and is the Smiling Snatcher wearing their skin as a disguise.

Abilities

Art the Clown

Demon Physiology

In the world of Terrifier, demons try to break into our world. To do so, they need a vessel that can bridge the gap between their world and ours. Either through the recently deceased of someone truly sinister, such as a sinister, or someone with nothing left to live for. Art was likely the former, and Victoria Heyes was the latter. If someone truly has nothing left to live for, then these demons can switch hosts and enter that person, although people like Sienna were able to resist to an extent.

Immortality

Thanks to being a Demon, Art is effectively immortal. He can sit frozen on a chair for 5 years straight proving he has no necessities like food or water to live, and normally fatal attacks such as blowing his brains out isn’t an effective attack to kill him once and for all. He’ll, it’s unclear if even decapitation is a fatal blow to him, as he seemingly only died to that thanks to Sienna severing him with a blade specifically designed to kill him. Once his head was reborn, he was able to walk around decapitated perfectly fine.

Regeneration

To add to his immortality, he also has some nice regeneration to boot. He managed to write off a missing eye by replacing it with somebody else’s, and generally just bouncing back from major injury ties rather quickly.

Teleportation

While never an established ability the Clown has, it’s pretty clear throughout the series of films that Art has teleportation of some kind, although it’s not something he’ll always use in every situation.

Electricity Manipulation

Art has shown several instances of affecting technology, such as the lights inside of a building, or the music playing inside of a mall.

Video Corruption

Art himself can affect tapes and change things that happen inside them, as seen in All Hallows Eve. Through watching his tapes he also has shown some ability of escaping them and entering the reality of those who watch it, although it seems to only be in those specific circumstances.

The Hellhole

Although it’s questionable if Art could be able to purposely do this, it seems demons have some way to spawn openings to hell out of nowhere. A similar hole appeared in Terrifier 2, and once Sienna was pushed into it she seemed to be transported to some twisted version of her own nightmare where she was trapped in a glass box filled with water. Although she was able to revive and escape, and it's unclear if this hole in Terrifier 3 functions the exact same way.

Clyde

Veldigun Physiology

Veldigun are predatory monsters that feed off of prey’s sanity, personality, and memory. When feeding off the minds of their prey, they slowly gain their traits as well. At the start of the Dreams of an Insomniac series, Clyde was only a newborn who only targeted children, but by the time of the Family Photo Album video it was developed enough to target fully grown adults. Veldigun in their base forms have a black slime like appearance, but gain skin on their bodies as they devour more humans. On the inside, though, they are hollow. While Veldigun are able to be damaged, there is no known way to actually kill them, as they cannot be killed by any conventional means whatsoever. Only Clyde and one other entity truly knows how to kill a Veldigun.

Hallucinations

If you get near Clyde’s general area, it will use hallucinations to trick you and make you vulnerable. Its hallucinations are both visual and auditory and can make you see, unsee, or hear anything. Veldigun similar to Clyde have even used their powers to get several employees to not notice an entire room inside of the building they were working in. Its hallucinations don’t even have to be near Clyde itself, it could make voices or sounds anywhere in the general area. It can also mimic voices that it hears and use it against you.

Veldigun Sickness

If Clyde makes any sorta contact with you, this can come with horrific side effects. These include the discoloration of your skin, severe weight loss, the tightening of your skin, the fusing together of bones and flesh, teeth growing where they shouldn’t, and bleeding from every orifice. Further contact could rapidly increase this process. Veldigun Ooze is also described as something that can cause the body and mind exposed to the ooze to warp into something that’s no longer human anymore, as well as horrible hallucinations that go on for days on end.

Shapeshifting

Clyde’s body can shapeshift at will, so it can do anything it wants with it.

Mind Consumption

As said before, Veldigun feed off of the sanity, personality, and memory of their victims and feed on their minds. Once eaten, the Veldigun seem to change and adapt based on the person they ate. Photos on Clyde’s victims also seem to distort after Clyde eats them, and in one instance neighboring residents to one of Clyde’s victims said that they never existed in the first place, suggesting Clyde may have a strange ability to remove memories outright.

Video Corruption

Clyde may have some strange ability to corrupt the tapes seen in the series itself, although this is a bit vague and unclear.

Weaknesses

Art the Clown

While Art is nigh impossible to put down or even get away from, he is by no means perfect. He is prone to playing with his victims, and dragging out his kills to the extreme.

He’s also able to be tricked, such as when he was tricked by Tara with sound in Terrifier 1 and was tricked into having Sienna unwrap the very weapon that can kill him in Terrifier 3.

Clyde

While a highly intelligent creature, it’s own physiology could very well heavily change it in unexpected ways that it doesn’t seem to have the foresight to predict. For example, if consuming a highly sinister or manipulative victim, it would be almost corrupted into being a more sinister and manipulative version of itself.

Before the Verdict

Can Art Teleport?

Probably the most important question regarding Art, as whether he teleports or just runs really fast is pretty crucial. It either gives him insane speeds (relative for a match of this scale) or just a pretty useful ability. It’s a pretty difficult question to answer as these feats are always offscreen, there’s never been a clear answer and there’s a good few inconsistencies on both sides. Initially, I was on the side of it just being speed, but as I further thought about it, I leaned further into chalking it up to teleportation.

To get the obvious point out of the way first, we never visually see these feats. We know he can somewhat keep up with his victims on foot, but they aren’t really athletes anyway and most of the time are already slowed down via knife wounds to the legs, making them easy to catch up to even if they were to run off. If these potential offscreen feats were to come down to which reasoning is easier to back up for him, he has shown no on screen basis to even come near peak human running speeds, whereas his blatant supernatural nature when it comes to his abilities makes teleportation a lot easier to back up.

Verdict

With everything said and done, this debate is very tricky to decide as both combatants are comparable in a lot of ways. So I’ve chosen five categories that I think are most important in representing who I think will ultimately triumph…

Physical Stats

Both combatants here are easily above that of the average human, albeit neither are particularly crazy beyond that. Speed is a bit of a non-factor to this debate, as neither have shown superhuman level showings here. Clyde potentially had better showings here as catching up to the man in the Family Photo Album video is visually more impressive than anything we’ve seen from Art in his movies, but Art can teleport, so speed doesn’t really matter much here regardless.

In terms of Strength and Durability, Clyde doesn’t have much impressive showings. We do have one feat for it, though, and it’s the first thing shown to us in the whole series. Breaking through the glass door at Grimmso’s should require an output of 43.36 kilojoules, putting the Veldigun at wall level. Impressive, but Art just barley edges this out with his own glass door feat. Breaking through the glass door to Allie’s house required an output of 73.127 kilojoules. While Clyde’s glass door does look visually wider and both doors should probably be around a similar height, the difference comes from Art’s door feat being a house while Clyde’s feat was a costume store. Generally neighborhood house glass doors have a thickness of a half inch, while glass doors used in stores have a thickness of a quarter of an inch. So while Art’s door may not be as wide, his feat makes up for it by being half as thick, giving the Clown a near 1.7x advantage.

Putting these two feats outside, Art is just a lot more consistent in showings here. Of course a lot of that is just because of the mediums both characters come from, but obviously the movie slasher has shown more on screen feats of brute strength over the vague analog horror monster. Given that and supernatural teleportation taking a very slight speed edge, it’s clear Art takes the advantage in Physical Stats.

Arsenal/Abilities

I don’t think it’s a secret that Art obviously has a huge lead in his arsenal. He always carries around a giant trash bag filled with nothing but weapons. Art has so many options at his disposal here, whether it being slicing you open with scalpels, knives, saws, a specially made chain whip of sharp objects, or a whole ass chainsaw, blunt force with clubs, hammers, a multitude of long range weaponry with his multiple guns including a pistol, tommy gun and shotgun, a flamethrower to light you up in flames, a self made freeze-gun to do the opposite and freeze your limbs, or even just one of the strongest acids in the world to just melt your face off. Not to mention just a straight up car he’ll use to ram into you with, and this isn’t even everything he has. The closest to a physical arsenal that Clyde has on hand are costumes and disguises, and even then Art has that too.

In terms of abilities though, Clyde catches backup. While both combatants are demons with a plethora of supernatural powers, Clyde’s powers are far more dangerous in a one-on-one confrontation. Just making any form of physical contact with the beast will cause your body to decay, as well as hallucinations that will last days on end. Clyde can also intentionally cause hallucinations, both auditory and visual. Similar Veldigun have used hallucinations to hide an entire room from all of the employees working under the Lankmann Foundation, so it’s likely Clyde could just use hallucinations to hide any trace of its presence to Art entirely, which is incredibly useful here.

Outside of that, Art has video corruption, electricity manipulation, teleportation, and can potentially create portals leading to hell. Clyde also has video corruption and regardless the ability is useless in this fight anyway, and Clyde doesn’t have any sort of technology so electricity manipulation just isn’t useful here either. Teleportation is good for mobility but that wasn’t a huge factor in this fight regardless and just isn’t as useful as the Veldigun sickness. But even without Veldigun Sickness, Clyde still has some insanely useful abilities, like some method of memory erasure. Not only do Veldiguns just straight up feed off of the memories and minds of their victims when killing them, but Clyde also affected the mind of a surrounding neighbor of a family it had recently killed, completely removing the memory of the Family’s existence in the neighbor’s mind. The only ability Art has that could be as useful as these is the portal to hell, which could potentially be BFR.

To end off this category, Art relies on his equipment much more than his supernatural abilities, whereas Clyde solely has abilities to rely on. As a whole I’d say Clyde’s abilities are more useful than Art’s arsenal overall, Art still has a mixture of both arsenal and abilities to draw from. So overall, I’m calling the Arsenal/Abilities category a Tie.

Intelligence

Both of these demons are highly intelligent individuals. Art has tricked people plenty of times before and has built plenty of his own weapons, whereas Clyde is the most cunning of the Veldigun and has even outright been stated to be insanely intelligent by the police in Eastridge County. Both also have shown multiple instances in being good at manipulation, Art having used the Shaw family’s emotions and bonds against them while Clyde manipulated Sam Wilson’s father into being killed by it. Both have overlap and seem to be especially intelligent in different fields, so it’s hard to say who’s overall smarter, but if I were to decide who takes this category, I’d probably lean Clyde.

While both have shown incredible instances in intelligence, Art has also shown plenty of weakness in this category as well. He’s been tricked before, like how he was lured away from Tara by the sound of an object in which she had thrown. This is incredibly similar to the main tactic that Veldigun uses when hunting prey, so Clyde’s strategies are gonna be effective right out the gate. This category is close, but I’m gonna have to give the edge in Intelligence to Clyde.

Demon Physiology

Now, we’re approaching the last two categories, and it’s currently 2-2. Art has a slight stat advantage with a reliance on his arsenal while Clyde has a slight edge in intelligence with a reliance on abilities. To end things off, both combatants are demons, and that fact alone is a big reason for why both are so dangerous. So, the physiology of a demon in Terrifier, or the physiology of a Veldigun? What’s more useful, and how do they stack up to their specific advantages and disadvantages? Well, let’s break it down…

In Terrifier, a vessel is needed to bridge the gap between the demon’s world and ours. When a demon enters our world, a counterbalance is placed to make sure that the demons don’t become too powerful. For Art, Sienna Shaw is his counterbalance. While Art isn’t as powerful as he potentially could be with Sienna still being in the picture, he is still borderline impossible to kill for good regardless. Demons in Terrifier have insane regenerative properties, as they’re able to shrug off otherwise insanely fatal attacks like a mild inconvenience. While Art had seemingly died by decapitation at the end of Terrifier 2, this was with a sword specifically made to kill him, as it was one specifically made for and wielded by Sienna. Once being reborn at the beginning of Terrifier 3 he could fully operate as a decapitated body, which would imply not even a normal decapitation could truly kill him for good.

As for the Veldigun, as a species they’re hollow creatures that rapidly evolve the more they feed off of personality, memory, and sanity. The more they consume, the more developed and powerful they become. Veldigun are also borderline impossible to kill. While they feel pain like other creatures do, Veldigun straight up cannot die by normal means. While there are still ways of killing them, the only people with this knowledge are Clyde and one other, mysterious entity.

So, when we put these pieces of information together, and apply them to what we already know, who’s coming out on top? I mean, can they really even kill the other? Both have similar cases of basically being borderline immortal, and with Art’s regen and Clyde’s shapeshifting, physical damage seems like a non-factor at this point. Sure, Art’s regeneration isn’t quick or immediate like Clyde’s shapeshifting, so theoretically Clyde could eventually punch Art into mush or tear him apart limb from limb and the fight wouldn’t be able to continue fast enough for Art to get back into the fight and Clyde would then win. But not only is that just not typical Veldigun behavior, but is also just very unlikely to happen regardless given Art’s 1.7x advantage in strength and durability. So, is it just a draw then? Not quite. While we have to throw physical stats out the window, we still have both Arsenal & Abilities to take into account. So, Art’s Kit vs Clyde’s Abilities, which would bypass the other combatant’s immortality first?

Immortality

Art’s arsenal is incredibly versatile, but most of it is pretty ineffective in getting past Clyde’s immortality. Knives and guns can’t really do much more than physical damage, which we’ve already established to be useless here. Art’s acid could melt Clyde’s face off, but shapeshifting could basically undo the damage anyways. The flamethrower is a similar case, shape shifting would probably just undo any real damage done, it would just take a longer time to wear off. Out of Art’s physical equipment, I’d say his best option is probably the freeze spray? Veldigun are hollow creatures, so if Art were to spray Clyde’s entire body and then shatter him into a bunch of tiny pieces with a mallet, that may get past the immortality and shapeshifting? Another potential wincon is Art’s portal to hell, which could potentially BFR Clyde into hell with no effective way to escape back into the fight.

As for Clyde, of course the previously mentioned Veldigun Sickness and mind erasure are huge abilities. For Veldigun Sickness, if Art’s body were to rapidly decay he likely wouldn’t be able to regenerate back from that, and even if he ended up living he’d likely be in a state where he could no longer continue the fight. Memory erasure could also potentially bypass Art’s immortality. While we don’t have clear visuals on how Clyde affects memory, we do at least know he feeds specifically off of memory, sanity, and personality, all things from the mind. Demons in Terrifier have only shown immortality on a physical level, and they’ve never shown any resistances to mind related abilities. So if Clyde were to feed off of Art’s memories, sanity, personality, and just mind in general then that’d likely end the fight in one way or another.

So, we have two methods for both potentially getting rid of the other's immortality. Art’s Freeze Machine and Hell Portal vs Clyde’s Veldigun Sickness and Memory Erasure. So, what’s better? Well, I’d probably say that all potential wincons have some drawbacks in one way or another. For the freeze machine, it’s area of effect and freezing capabilities just aren’t immediately effective. When Art used the machine on the Santa lookalike who was tied to a chair, it could only freeze a couple of limbs per angle and even after using it on the lookalike’s face for a good couple of seconds, it still wasn’t enough to completely freeze the lookalike as they were still able to scream. If Art used this on Clyde, he’d need to do it for a good while and there’s nothing stopping Clyde from just running away. As for the Hell Portal, it’s more so hypothetical. Art’s never purposely summoned it offensively in a fight before. It also isn’t that difficult to avoid either, as long as Clyde isn’t above it as it gets summoned or at the very least grab onto the ledge, it’s fine. Maybe Art could force Clyde in with his superior strength, but likewise Clyde could trick him into falling in using hallucinations, and honestly making close physical contact with Clyde isn’t the greatest idea for Art anyway.

For the Veldigun Sickness, the only drawback I see with it is the timeframe. It took years for it to affect Officer Kruger to the point of near death, although further contact with Clyde would most likely speed the process up a lot faster. Finally, memory erasure, feeding off of a victim’s sanity, memories and personality opens Clyde up to corruption. While it does still seem to be Clyde at the end of things, it still can get corrupted via consumption. Demons in Terrifier do have an established history with corrupting people, such as Victoria Heyes, so it’s entirely possible Art could corrupt and possess Clyde after his mind is consumed. Although this is somewhat questionable. To possess people in Terrifier, a vessel either needs to be someone truly evil who is recently deceased, or alternatively someone living who has nothing left to live for. A lot of this is completely hypothetical, though. I lean towards the scenario where Clyde would get corrupted but still be in complete control of its body as more likely, but I could absolutely see a scenario where Art could take control after this as well.

So, with all of that said, which of these potential wincons do I think is the likeliest of the four? I think character is a very important aspect here, for the both of them. Neither are coming into this fight aware that the other combatant has immortality of their own. Clyde is absolutely using hallucinations to control the fight, Art would likely indulge in a lot of the hallucinations, and if Art were to capitalize off of anything in the battle, it would be for an up close, dragged out kill attempt, which would do nothing permanent to Clyde and would only leave himself vulnerable to Veldigun Sickness. The Veldigun Sickness wincon just sounds the most plausible, and as a wincon it just has the least amount of holes compared to Art’s own wincons.

The Hellhole just doesn’t sound in character for Art, as it’d be Art going for a haxed genius BFR move over a gruesome and bloody kill, and it’s very easy for Clyde to avoid this and use it against Art via hallucinations. The Freezing Machine is far more in character for Art but it’s also just as much in character for Clyde to avoid this if it was that dangerous as the Freezing Machine itself is just not a reliable immediate weapon for this type of wincon. And possessing Clyde just isn’t a reliable wincon at all given the rules of how both Demons in Terrifier and the Veldigun operate. The Veldigun Sickness wincon is the most likely outcome I see given both’s characters. So, when all is said and done, Clyde just has more ways of bypassing its opponent’s Immortality.

Conclusion

He’s a Miles County legend with a smile that brings a chill, on a journey to outdo himself and top his latest kill!

  • Slightly edges out in Strength and Durability

  • Had a very versatile Arsenal

  • Had potential options to bypass Clyde’s immortality…

  • Used to have a fucked up evil version of Spiritual Guidance

Equal:

  • Similar Immortality

  • Even in Speed

  • Equivalent Manipulation Tactics

  • Haxed Genius

Disadvantages:

  • …but they were less reliable than Clyde’s methods

  • Less Useful Abilities

  • Would likely be tricked by Clyde’s hallucinations

  • …until that guidance fucking died lmao rip bozo dude.

You have nothing left. An empty man. Sitting in an empty home. But you don’t have to be.

Advantages:

Equal:

  • Similar Immortality

  • Even in Speed

  • Equivalent Manipulation Tactics

  • Haxed Genius

Disadvantages:

  • Slightly behind in Strength and Durability

  • Lacks an Arsenal

These two county demons were very evenly matched. Art’s arsenal was vast and he even held a slight AP advantage, but a 1.7x difference just wasn’t gonna cut it by itself, especially in a matchup where both combatants were essentially immortal. Clyde’s hallucinations would provide it the most control in the battle, its abilities were overall more useful, and most importantly, its methods around Art’s immortality were more reliable than vice versa.

Overall, while seeing these two county legends Clyde-ing was a work of Art, the Eastridge Demon ultimately Snatched any Dream of the clown taking home victory!

The winner is The Smiling Snatcher!

End

And that’s a wrap for my first blog! Hope y’all enjoyed it. Obviously this matchup fits the spooky season the most, but I got in the mood to write this a little bit after the fact so I would’ve already been late to the party regardless. I mean, I guess it’s early December, and Terrifier 3 is Christmas themed… sure, let’s go with that. Happy Holidays!

It was a blast to research both of these dudes. Art the Clown has such an interesting history and I heavily fw Terrifier 2 & 3 as movies. I also very much enjoy Pastra’s content and Dreams of an Insomniac is a good series too!

Uh, I know people usually put their next time trailers here, so here’s a trailer for the matchup I’m probably gonna be doing next…
